Set of Vintage Official Soap Box Derby Tires And Wheels with 1972 Rule Book.
In 1970 my parents purchased the Soap Box Derby build kit including these wheels for me to race in the Soap Box Derby in York Pennsylvania. I also use them in 1972 with an upgraded all fiberglass car that I built. Since then they have been stored indoors. Like my Soap Box Derby wheels I have entered the “Vintage” class and it is now time to part with them as we prepare to move to warmer climes.
The wheels are in good used condition with paint scratches as shown in the photos. Please note that both sides are shown in the photos marked “Side 1” and “Side 2”. The rubber of the tires is very good condition with no cracking or other damage. The bearings are still very good, I put a few drops of oil in each one and spun them by hand them on an a 1/2” axle and they all spin freely and continued spinning on their own for over 10 minutes.
The 1972 Rule Book has some markings on the cover as seen in the photo. The interior is complete in very good condition with no creases, tears, markings or stains. A few sample pages are shown.
The wheels measure 12 inches in diameter, and 2 13/16 inches wide at the bearings. They each weigh about 5 lbs. 10 oz.
