    Description

The Evans Decoy Company produced decoys from the late 1920's into the 1930's in Ladysmith, Wisconsin.
This particular decoy was found about 100 miles southeast of where it was made and shows evidence of serving hunters for a number of years enduring considerable wear and at least one repaint.  Much of the repaint has worn away showing some original paint.   There is some evidence of this bird perhaps spent time as a redhead based upon some residual red paint on the head.  There is a significant crack that has been filled on the left side and some separation of the horizontal seam that was used to hollow the decoy.  There is a chunk of wood missing from the breast which is shown on one of the photos.  The head is loose but does not come off with gentle pulling.  The beak shows a crack but it still intact, no evidence of any repairs to it.  Yellow eyes appear to be original, the right eye is cracked.  The bottom of the decoy was never repainted and shows a solid 'Evans Decoys' stamp as well as a former owners signature, L King, the line tie and weight have been removed.  There is minimal evidence of the wing patches, showing only the slightest hint on the tail.
With all of these faults, this is still an attractive and proud decoy that reflects it years spent in the marsh and still displays nicely on a shelf.
Please look closely at the photos that I have provided as they provide an accurate guide to the decoys condition.  Ask any questions that you may have and I will do my best to answer them.
Will ship USPS Parcel Ground.  Good luck!
