    Description

A good example of what is commonly called a Detroit Grade Mason Mallard Drake.  In as found condition with the paint worn to wood on multiple areas.  Original glass eyes are present   Wing patches are visible but do show wear.  The tip of the bill is irregular. likely the result of a chip what has since been worn smooth.  There is a chuck of wood missing from the tail that appears to have been a knot in the wood that has fallen out.  The right side of the body and head have what appear to be shot marks present, something that is pretty common on decoys found here in Wisconsin.  There is a drying crack in the bottom of the decoy from the line tie to the base of the tail that does not show when the decoy is displayed.  It appears to be stable, at least it has not changed in the 20+ years that I have owned this decoy.  There is a line tie present but the weight is not.  There may be a hunters name stamped into the bottom, but I cannot make it out.
Found in Central Wisconsin, near Lake Puckaway, this decoy shows the wear patterns of years of hunting adventures.
Please look closely at the photos that I have provided as they are an important part of the description.   The double image is actually a shadow which shows my lack of photography skills:)  Good luck
